A 5 days safari to see the Ndutu wildebeest migration Late December marks the start of the calving season, which lasts through the months of January, February, March, and April. The Serengeti Plains and Ndutu Plains are found in northern Tanzania's Ngorongoro Conservation Areas, where wildebeests give birth. The best places to see hundreds of wildebeest grazing on the lush short grass plains in the months of January, February, March, and April of 2026 & 2027 are Tanzania's Southern Serengeti and Ndutu regions. When predator activity is at its greatest, there are excellent chances to witness breathtaking, heart-pounding kills and exceptional opportunities to view cheetah, lion, hyena, and leopard sightings.
We'll pick you up from your hotel accommodation in Arusha and bring you to the Arusha Airstrip for your flight to Ndutu. Upon arrival, you'll have a meet and greet with your tour guide/driver and then proceed to a game drive. The Lake Ndutu area is part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem and is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift Valley lakes; however, the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephants, birds, and resident animals.
Start our day by departing to Serengeti national park via the incredible ngorongoro highlands, our scenic route will pass along the crater rim and we will stop for a magnificent look at the crater before proceeding to Serengeti. Serengeti national park boasts as one of the seven natural wonders of Africa and offers spectacular wildebeest migration; the park is also a home to all the big predators and has a fabulous landscape. We will retire to our accommodation in late hours. Accommodations: Clients selection Public campsite/ Tinted campsite/ Lodges Meals: Water is included in all meals (Other drinks is not included)
Early in the morning, enjoy a hot air balloon safari, then head back to the lodge or camp for breakfast, followed by an afternoon game drive en route to Serengeti Central (Seronera). The park is well known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the "Big Five," named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters: Lions: The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa, due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. African Leopard: These elusive predators are frequently spotted.
After breakfast, we'll continue the game drive in the Seronera area, and in the afternoon, we'll proceed to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A million wildebeest... each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfilling its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life: a three-week frenzy of territorial conquests and mating; survival of the fittest as 40km (2 miles) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north; replenishing the species in a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily before the 1,000 km (600 miles) journey.<
We'll depart in the morning after breakfast and descend to Ngorongoro Crater by 11 a.m. Afterward, we drive back to Arusha and drop you off at the airport to catch your flight home or to your next destination.
